越南语(TiếngViệt)，越南的官方语言。属南亚语系孟－高棉语族。主要分布于越南沿海平原越族（也称京族）聚居地区。使用人口有5000多万。中国广西防城县沿海京族聚居地区约有1万人使用越南语。

 

东南亚大部分国家的语言受印度文化影响较大，而越南语却与朝鲜语、日语一样自古受到汉字文化的深远影响。在中国自公元一世纪至十世纪的统治下，越南语引入庞大的汉字词汇，其发音（汉越音）类似古汉语中古音，但其语法承袭了大量高棉语的特色，虽然与中文一样并无时态及动词变化，亦同为声调语言，但其词序恰恰与中文相反置，情况近似泰语。

 

现在的越南语使用拉丁字母书写，叫做国语字（ChuQuoc Ngu）。它是由17世纪到越南的法国传教士亚历山大·罗德（法语：Alexandre de Rhodes），（1591年-1660年）根据先前传教士的拼写原则整合而成。在19世纪法国占领越南时期，这种书写体系流行起来，并于20世纪全面开始使用。
